1. Getting images and product info from your manufacturers

NOTE: This information can be provided to you in a number of different formats:

a) email

b) cd / dvd

c) ftp

d) web site

 

 

2. Save product info (from manufacturer's dvd / email / ftp or website) to your new fancy shared hard drive.

NOTE: Save the product info and prices to the 'PROCESSED_REGULAR_IMAGES_FOR_WEBSITE' folder / <manufacturer name>

Save the product images to the folder named 'PUT-NEW_IMAGES_HERE_first step'

NOTE 2: How to save files to these folders

 

a) email

Open email, select attached file(s) - multiple files can be selected by holding down the 'shift key' on your keyboard, and clicking with the mouse on each file. Then right click on mouse to show menu; select option called 'Save As'

This opens a file navigation window. Click on the option called 'computer' from the left side of this window.

Then select your new shared drive, select folder called: 'THE FURNITURE COLLECTION' and then select folder named 'FURNITURE' then select folder called 'PUT-NEW_IMAGES_HERE_first step', then select the folder for the manufacturer name.

Create a NEW FOLDER - labeled with today's date or eg. 'spring season and year' .

b) cd / dvd

Insert cd into your computer's cd rom drive.

Go to your file navigation window (hold down the option / window key on your keyboard and then click 'E')

You can also get to this by clicking on the 'My Computer' link from your desktop. (or sometimes this window will open automatically when you insert the cd or dvd)

Click 'Computer' to display your drives, then find the CD rom drive in the list of drives available

Then double click on the dvd / cd drive that you would like to open. This will show you a list of files and folders on the cd / dvd.

To see the thumbnails of the images click on the 'change your view' icon in the top right corner of your navigator window, then select the option called 'Extra Large Thumbnails'

Open a second navigator window (hold down the option / window key on your keyboard and then click 'E')

Then select your new shared drive, select folder called: 'THE FURNITURE COLLECTION' and then select folder named 'FURNITURE' then select folder called 'PUT-NEW_IMAGES_HERE_first step', then select the folder for the manufacturer name.

Make the navigator window 'full screen' so you can see what you are doing properly, (do this by double clicking on the blue bar at the top of the window).

Select the products that you would like to sell / save / process or whatever and copy them accross to your 'put new images here' folder

To select multiple contiguous images click with the mouse on the first image that you like in the folder, hold down the 'shift' key on your keyboard, then click on the last product in the collection that you like.

Now drag these images to your 'Shared Camel' drive into the 'PUT-NEW_IMAGES_HERE_first step'

To select multiple images that are not contiguous, click with the mouse on the first image that you liketo select, hold down the 'Ctrl' key on your keyboard, then click on the next product in the collection that you like, and so on. Then drag to the 'Shared Camel drive' as described above.

c) ftp

Open the application called 'File Zilla' on your computer.

On the left side of the ftp window, you will navigate to the 'Shared Camel' drive and to the 'PUT-NEW_IMAGES_HERE_first step' folder

Then log into the ftp site using the address / ip address / host name provided by the manufacturer

As well as the user id and password that they have given you. Then you are going to find the products that you want to copy from them to your server and select them in the same way as you would normall in your file manager window. (Select, hold down shift or ctrl key, select more files)

Then drag the selected files from the right side (their ftp server), to the left side (your shared camel drive). It will take some time for the download to complete. (depending on how many files and how big they are it may take quite a long time).

d) web site

we will come back to this one later 

 

3. Send newly acquired images to be sent to Image processing company in India.

Open the application called 'File Zilla' on your computer.

On the left side of the ftp window, you will navigate to the 'Shared Camel' drive and to the 'PUT-NEW_IMAGES_HERE_first step' folder

Then log into the ftp site using the address / ip address / host name provided by the manufacturer

As well as the user id and password that they have given you. Then you are going to find the products that you want to copy from them to your server and select them in the same way as you would normall in your file manager window. (Select, hold down shift or ctrl key, select more files)

You will probably need to create a folder for a new manufacturer or season.

Then drag the selected files from the the left side (your shared camel drive) to the right side (their ftp server) the new folder..

It will take some time for the download to complete. (depending on how many files and how big they are it may take quite a long time).

 

4. Email Indians to tell them that you have uploaded new images for them to process.

In this email you will have to provide the following info:

a) Folder name(s) where you have put the images eg: To Do/<manufacturer name date>

b) Number of images for them to process

c) Message:

"As usual please cut out all images that are not already on a white background and place on a white background.

Provide 3 sizes:

1) 300 wide x 255px tall

2) Large image (original image size if less than 1500px) or 1500px if original is larger than 1500px.

3) Original image on white background (full size image) if larger than 1500px

Please let us know as soon as you have completed this work".

 

5. Indians finish image processing and send you an email to let you know to download processed images

 

6. Download processed images using FileZilla, and the same login info you used before

Save these images to your 'PROCESSED_IMAGES' folder.


7. Pay Indians by paypal

They will send you a paypal fund request, you just need to agree to the fund transfer.

 

8.  Rename image files with product model numbers.

9. If this is a new manufacturer not in the system already, you will need to go to mfc/admin/suppliers and add the new manufacturer here and also into admin/manufacturers and into Egroupware.

 

9. Send info to Content Manager by email:

Info to provide to her:

a) regular size images (300 x255) PRIMARY IMAGE ONLY (only the main images for each product, not the ALT images).

b) List products to be posted

c) provided prices, dims and descriptions as email attachements

d) Add any specific language you want them to include with regard to product description

e) Provide 'markup' % for them to enter - eg 65%

f) Model number prefix (eg. ES for Eurostyle) - be consistent with the existing prefixes for this manufacturer

g) Manufacturer / Supplier name

h) Any specific info on how to read the price list

 

10. They will email you to say they have finished and or to ask for clarification on particular items

 

11. Paypal them for their work. They get $1.50 per product

 

12. Upload Large (Zoomed in) images and 'Alt' images using Win SCP

I will provide more info on this asap.

 

11. Double check the work by going to the live site and looking at the new products
